If you are deceived by your friend shame on him but if you are deceived second time by your friend shame upon you.

Somehow the curtain falls on the Jaipur literary festival after the three low profile intellectuals were catapulted to read some excerpts from the Salman Rushdie’s controversial book Satanic Verses and latter forced to disappear from the literary festival. The Rushdie drama according to the many political observers was politically manipulated and performed artistically by the state as well as the beleaguered UPA government to please the minority community at the times of UP election. It was not the first time that the Salman Rushdie was visiting India; he participated few years back in the India today conclave which interestingly took place under the nose of same UPA government which views now that his appearance in the literary festival can hurt the sentiments of Muslim community. Agreed that the controversial author and his book do contain blasphemous and malicious content towards the prophet (pbuh) and Islam, agreed that that India have distinction to be the first country in the world that banned the book, when the Rajiv Gandhi was in power in the centre. But if we take a look at the back pages of Congress history, we will come to know that the most horrifying communal clashes have took place in their reign. Who can forget the Bhagalpur carnage in which more than 1,000 Muslims were massacred and who paved the way to the kar Savakis to demolish the Babri Masjid in 1992. These incidents have dented the image of congress party and its leadership and will continue to haunt until they don’t give up this cynical politics. However the Rushdie saga once again shows that the Congress party is still perusing the time tested mantra to please the community. Whenever there are no aces left on the political table to vow the Muslim voters, they always try to pussyfoot on the Muslim sensitive issues to make inroads in the Muslim vote bank particularly in the northern India. They flagged off their political crusade in the UP election by blowing the trumpet of 4.5 sub quota for the Muslims just two days before, when the Uttar Pradesh elections were announced. They categorically made it clear to the organizers that the Rushdie should not be seen or heard in the Jaipur literary festival at this juncture when the first time they are sensing a victory in a state which sets the political discourse of India. If the congress government is so serious about the religious sentiments, then what happened to the report and those recommendations made by the Sachar committee which exposed the pitiable condition of Muslims in this banana republic? Why these recommendations were intentionally put on the back burner from the last couple of years and now the same political party is beating the chest on the religious sentiments of Muslim community. It is the same government which couldn’t rehabilitate and remove the tag of most alienated and oppressed minority in India from the last sixty years. Ironically, claiming that they preserved the sentiments of Muslims after ensuring that the controversial writer couldn’t show up his physical appearance in the literary festival.

The literary lassitude’s of Salman Rushdie or Tasleema Nasreen and the choral songs of western media to support their hallucinatory arguments and latter sterilize these sensitive issues of Islam will neither stop this tsunami of enlightment nor distort the history, which says the sole and ultimate way of living in the universe is Islam. Thus these cynical statecraft exhibitions or the views of such so called authors shouldn’t be taken so seriously but unfortunately our some Islamic seminaries have taken an oath on the covet agenda of some treacherous political parties to propel their fatwa’s without even knowing the persons and their works and simply falling the victims of political gimmicks.
